Use of the Variant Configurator in S/4HANA Service

Many companies in the service and maintenance world used the variant configurator in SAP ECC. The variant configurator as it existed in ECC is no longer available in the new ‘SAP world ’. This means that when upgrading to S/4HANA Service, one has to switch to the new technologies. In this case, thats the AVC (Advanced Variant Configurator). This is a completely new tool, however does not yet have the maturity level of the existing tool. But there is another catch. The previous variant configurator was included in the ECC licence. The successor has its own and also quite heavy licence. A lobby was therefore started from the DSAG to change this and also offer a service-specific solution.

Meanwhile, SAP has changed the pricing policy for Advanced Variant Configuration. There is now a more favourable pricing scale for the SAP Private Cloud & Public Cloud licensing models.
